Bush Hamdan: From Kentucky to the Miami Dolphins | NFL Coaching Changes (2026)

In a surprising move, Bush Hamdan is trading in his college coaching hat for a spot in the NFL once again! But this time, it's a bit more complicated.

The Plot Twist: Hamdan, who recently joined Mississippi State as an associate head coach for offense, is now set to become the quarterbacks coach for the Miami Dolphins. Yes, you read that right. He's leaving one new job for another, and it's a big deal in the coaching world.

The 39-year-old has quite the resume. He was the offensive coordinator at Kentucky for two seasons, but his coaching journey began as a quarterback at Boise State under Chris Petersen. He later worked as an assistant for Petersen at Washington, with a brief stint as the Atlanta Falcons' quarterbacks coach in 2017. And now, after a short stay at Mississippi State, he's off to Miami.

But here's where it gets interesting: Hamdan is not the only former Kentucky assistant to make this transition. Zach Yenser, ex-offensive line coach, also joined the Dolphins' staff as the primary offensive line coach. The Dolphins are clearly tapping into the Kentucky coaching talent pool.

And this is the part most people miss—Hamdan is the latest in a line of Kentucky offensive coordinators to move to the NFL. Both Liam Coen and Rich Scangarello made similar moves after their time with the Wildcats. So, is there a trend here? Are the Dolphins onto something by hiring from this particular coaching tree?

The Dolphins seem to think so, as they're bringing in Hamdan to work with their quarterbacks. With his experience as a former NFL QB coach and college offensive coordinator, he could be the missing piece they need. But only time will tell if this coaching shuffle pays off.

What do you think? Is this a smart move by the Dolphins, or is it a risky strategy? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
