A community kitchen in Bath is expanding its reach and impact after receiving a significant funding boost. The National Lottery has awarded the kitchen with £19,650, enabling them to expand into a new area and secure their future. But here's where it gets controversial... The kitchen's mission is to tackle loneliness, isolation, and food poverty, and with this funding, they plan to do even more. The kitchen currently operates once a week in Twerton, serving community meals and providing workshops to over 5,000 people, including refugees. However, some may argue that the kitchen's impact could be even greater if they focused on other issues, such as providing more direct support to those in need. Despite this, the kitchen's founder, Rob Lewis, believes that 'cooking and eating together is such a powerful way to build connections, confidence, and a sense of belonging'. The kitchen's new funding will also support the Cook Like a Chef course for young people at risk of homelessness and the Guys Can Cook program for older men living alone.
